Hot Smoked is a 7yo mare by Eastern Anthem.
She ran with great promise in two competitive bumpers in 2018, finishing 5/10 and 6/17 respectively.
Her first two runs over hurdles didn’t quite go to plan, however she ran well at Fontwell recently dropped back in trip.
Dropped back even further to two miles on her latest run at Wincanton on the 27th February she again ran well to finish 7th of 18 runners. She made most of the running until getting headed three out, but did great work at the end staying on nicely in the straight. We are slightly confused as to what her perfect distance will be but will stick to around two miles for the time being, although on a much stiffer track. We all think that Exeter will suit her.
Exeter suited her very well indeed! She made all and jumped the last three lengths clear only to wander around on the run in. The winner came wide and beat her a nose in a photo finish. Very frustrating but the penny is dropping and she continues to progress.
Hot Smoked took her first run in a novice chase at Fontwell on February 23rd. She ran considerably well in a three runner race against horses rated 149 and 132 respectively. Although always in third spot she jumped very well and ran above expectation over too far a trip and lacking fitness.
The 9th March saw her head to Taunton over the right distance of two miles. She jumped brilliantly and was only beaten a few lengths into third spot. Next time front running tactics back at Exeter should see her run a big race.
